CHANGE IS GOOD. I just can't verbalise it all

This stupid situation, when you want to say so much yet cannot find the words. And it’s not because I want to make it sound perfect or more interesting than it is, I just can’t pull the words from my head and onto paper. Digital paper, but it doesn’t matter. And there IS lots happening in my head. Changes in life. Opportunities. Things I’ve always wanted coming my way. New stuff that I’m about to try. Abnosomely delicious feijoa tea in Coffee House which you can find around the corner wherever you are in this city. New dress and style I need to sort well with. New people, lots of them, who I am about to meet literally tomorrow. And feeling happy with myself and my life, even though it’s not perfect or trouble-free, I am learning to accept it as it is. Right now and right here is what it’s meant to be.

MONDAY PLAYLIST #3. I am in St Petersburg now

I am sitting on my new bed, in my new room, in a new city. I have moved to St Petersburg. Code phrase "for good". I live here now. From now on I live in the city of my dreams. Wow. It's been quite a dream and I cannot seem to believe it yet. Dear St P, please be good to me. Here's my long promised Monday playlist for you, which is all about how mixed my feelings are right now. Feelings mixed, but I am pleased. I might be happy, I'm just way too tired to feel it straight. Let's see how it goes.

FILM TALK. Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015)

Kingsman The Secret Service film poster Colin Firth It's a bulldog, ain't it
It's a bulldog, ain't it?
I don't know how it happened, but I watched Kingsman the other day. I refused to watch it when everybody else did, because judging by the trailer it wasn't my jam. You know, all the hype, special effects and Colin Firth exploitation. Oh, and fights – not into those. Now why I did watch the film eventually... It may sound silly, and  it is silly of me, but I was scrolling down Evelina's instagram feed, as you do, and saw this picture of her Beautycon outfit inspired by Gazelle (a character from the film). That was when I knew the day had come. By the end of that day I had watched Kingsman, and thank you Evelina, for it turned out better than I could have expected.
If you are reading this and wondering whether or not the film is worthy – it is! It's that kind of film no one would regret watching. There are quite a few things I loved and very few details I didn't like as much and I couldn't give the film less than 8 out of 10. And I am REALLY picky with what I watch. Now let's talk about all of it more specifically and try to do so spoiler free, shall we?

LONG TIME NO POST. moving

Well, long time no post, the usual. We all know it – the longer we don’t write blog posts, the harder it is to get back to it. I’m trying, believe me, I’m trying. Here’s the excuse I have (this time, an actual one): I’m moving to another city. Ta-da!
In less than two weeks I’ll be on a 14 hour train to St. Petersburg, with a suitcase, laptop and a camera, filled with hope to build a life that I’ll enjoy living. And blogging is a part of it. I have a few big and small ideas for this space of mine, but first, why move?
St. Petersburg, being the cultural capital, is impossible to forget once you’ve been there. I first visited that gorgeous city when I was 8 and I couldn’t get over it ever since. My family and I went there every summer for almost a decade and I always knew that someday I would stay there for good. And that is what’s going to happen this month. And it’s scary. And plans changed a lot. And I almost talked myself out of it once or twice. And thanks to all of the above, I know I really want to do it.
I’m not telling you all the details yet, but here are some photos I took two years ago on my last visit with my brother. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy the city!

MONDAY PLAYLIST #2. be careful what you wish for

... it might just come true in the most unpredictable way. And when least expected. Seriously, what's with the timing? When plan B is full on, circumstances decide that plan A wasn't all too bad after all and become a freaking red carpet. I might not be flexible enough for this shit. I'm too old. Tricks like these mess with my brain... Or do I just give up too easily? Not that I've given up, though, just postponed the moment of getting out of my comfort zone. Yeah, basically I'm scared af. Fear, relax, damn it! I've been working my way through you, you son of a. I'll figure it out. I always do. Meanwhile, this is Monday playlist #2, which helps. Hope you enjoy!

FLORAL MOOD

There's something about floral patterns that make me go "yeah, I'll have it!". Maybe it's lack of flowers in real life, but I don't like them in real life. You know, walking around town balancing a bag, a phone, a bouquet in your hands and trying to stay a functional being, then watering them, keeping them away from the cat, and above all not forgetting to throw away at the right time. And you never know when exactly the right time is. Thank you, but keep 'em away from me, please. Outfit, though, is a whole other matter. Here's what I've been wearing non-stop these days in an attempt to balance out the gloomy weather outside.

MONDAY PLAYLIST #1. forget about the outer world

I've been trying to get my life together and I found that music is a major factor for getting myself together first. It's important to discover new music and rythms regularly not to let the mind get used to the same old sounds and be bored again. So I thought I'd share a playlist of songs that have helped me calm down and forget about the outer world for a bit.
Hope you like my first Monday playlist which I plan on making a weekly thing. Is it something you would be interested in? Also, let me know what music you cherish in the moments when you feel like things are getting too much and you need to have some time for yourself. I'd appreciate it very much if you shared!

MORNING MANAGEMENT: physical and mental (+ diet upd)

In the comments for the previous post of Morning Management I said "gonna post an update tomorrow". "Tomorrow" the Internet broke. Up until today. More on that HERE.
Anyway, the update is here, yasss!
Two weeks into the project and... I'll let it out there: it may NOT have been a total success, but! I have learnt a few lessons and I shall consider it a good starting point.

First of all, I should remember to think of myself as a work in progress, especially if I want to change something about the life that I'm used to. Second of all, if I'm being honest, this whole Morning Management idea is quite a challenge: it is complex and demanding and let's not forget that humans are resistant to change and get stressed. That being said, here's the wrap up of the first two weeks.

MORNING MANAGEMENT. Diet

Last night I had a hard time falling asleep, my brain just wouldn't shut up, not because of regrets or anxiety, surprisingly – it was ready to explode with creative ideas. I had to make new lists of projects, goals and post ideas in my Wunderlist app at 2 a.m. Pain in the ass, I tell ya, but so inspiring, I fell asleep feeling almighty. Is this what inspiration is about? It'd better be.

So one of the ideas my "almighty" brain came up with is Morning Management. Yes, it's about managing my morning routine. No, it's not a morning to-do list – it's more complex than that. In short, Morning Management is an extensive range of activities I need to incorporate in my life in order to start my every day off just right. Those activities and new habits include certain changes in diet, physical activity, proper rest and a hell of a lot of mental work – all to achieve a simple goal: wake up early and be a fully functional being from the beginning of each day.

MY IDEA OF BETTER

My mum always asks me to make her coffee, because it tastes better when I make it for her. It got me thinking what better stands for.
Coffee is better when it’s made by someone else. The dinner is served nicer when served by someone else. The pictures look cooler when taken by someone else. Dreams are real when achieved by someone else. Life is better when lived by someone else. Are we missing something? Shouldn’t we value our own accomplishments more than that?

So I tried serving the table nicely the other day and it didn’t look like a picture from a home décor magazine, yet it looked good and it felt even better to know I made it look pretty instead of bringing a bowl of all-in-one meal to my desk and not even look at it while scrolling down my bloglovin’ feed.

Again, I love taking and editing photos. I suck at it and knowing that makes me feel bad. But putting my pics out on the internet? Boy does it feel good. So I grab my camera every once in a while, take some shots, process them and take a moment to soak in the fleeting feeling of contentment and wish for myself to do that more often, because those little accomplishments make us enjoy life and be proud of ourselves, even if only for a sec.

PS: Remember how satisfied and strong you feel after a workout or a bike-ride or dancing? You should do that more often.

HABITS. READING TIME: DOUBLED

Speaking a foreign language with ease has its perks, like watching movies or reading books a) in the original and b) translated into your mother tongue – at the same time. Cool, right? Proved. At least things have changed since my last post on reading. But here’s the bummer – decisions. You can’t decide which version you like most, having to spend twice as much time reading/watching than you normally would. You do realize you’re getting the same information twice, but… is it really the same?
Reading a piece of work in the language it was initially written in can be a luxury for some, so it kind of makes every word count by default. On the other hand, the same idea expressed in the language you’ve known for, like, ever can speak to you on a whole new level. It typically happens like this (at least for me): open a book, read a few sentences, then switch to the other version wondering, “which is more interestingly written?” If it sounds familiar, ask me, I’ve figured it out for you. The answer is, none of them. Or both – as luck would have it. They are clearly different with their unique charm and sense of humor making you want to absorb it all in any and every form, but keep this in mind: they adapt to the realities specific to the particular area where the language is spoken. Thus, you don’t only get more text – you get more context. Which context exactly you need is the question you should ask yourself if you want to opt for one version of the book to save yourself a few hours.
So here’s the bottom line. Understanding your purpose of reading a particular book (watching a film) in the first place makes all the difference: concentrate on what you want to get from it, and the charming wording of a remake blends into the background.
Decisions. I should probably go make those. Most definitely. Maybe.
